My First Blog



       This blog is my attempt to stay hip and cool while spending the least amount of money possible. Join me in trying to be relevant and cheap.


       Living in a consumeristic lifestyle, it's easy to feel like you need to buy the next best thing. But I've noticed living like that can be very wasteful and also cost more money than is necessary. I would like to create a community where we can help each other buy products without being wasteful or feel like we have to sacrifice all of our money for high-end products. I want to encourage a lifestyle where we don't feel deprived and can live comfortably no matter our means. I will be sharing things I have been learning along the way on my mission to creating a lifestyle that is less wasteful as well as practical and inexpensive.  As a college student that takes an average of 5 courses a semester, I’m proud to say I’ve never spent more than a total of $100 a semester on books. Here are a few tips I personally use to spend the least money possible on books. Don’t buy the book till you need it!    I don’t buy my book until there’s an assignment or homework where the presence of a book is essential. There are some classes where the lecture is literally the book, and if you take good notes you’ll never need it. Check the library     Let’s say you followed the previous tip. Before purchasing the book, see if the library has a copy you can use or even check out if you need it in class. It's also a good idea to check early in the semester if the library has your textbook, so you know if you’ll be needing to buy books for certain classes ahead of time. Or if you can’t check out the book scan the few pages you’ll need for class. However, due to copyright laws, you can’t scan the entire book.

"What's in My Cart"

       Having to move into a new dorm or apartment is already super expensive. Wasting money on things you thought you needed is the last thing you want to do. You can still have all the essential dorm/apartment items for less money. Here are a couple of items I have in my cyber space shopping cart that I have price checked and researched on.  Shower Caddy Price: $5        This is great for organizing your products and other hygiene stuff. I definitely recommend this if you share a bathroom or are using a communal bathroom. Crock-Pot Price: $10        Slow cookers are great for making meals. You can get this one for $10 o r get it in black for $2 dollars more. F ilter Water Bottle Price: $9        Most Brita filter pitchers are around $20 and a lot of normal water bottles are around $8. I figured this wasn't too expensive and nice since it combines 2 items on my "to-get" list. Hamper Price: $6        You'll probably need
